Launching Later This Year
This is New City
A Welcoming Home
We pray that on Sundays and beyond, New City will feel like a home, not an event — a people that find true belonging, not pressure to perform, made possible by grace alone. Whether you have followed Jesus for 50 years or are exploring the faith for the first time, for the individual, the family with young kids in tow, and every generation in between, like a Lowcountry table, there’s always room for one more. You can expect a community that is honest, warm, and engaging; preaching that is gospel-centered, theologically rich, and practical for life; and dynamic worship that is rooted in an ancient faith and expressed in a modern context. New City will be rooted in the model of the early church, where we break bread together, are generous with one another, and are pointed back to Jesus again and again. We hope you show up early for coffee and stay late because the conversations good. We take Jesus seriously, without taking ourselves too seriously. Sundays will run about 75 minutes and feel warn and unhurried where it will be clear we are far more than a social club or a community event. New City will be intentional, multi-generational, and diverse in our stories, united as a new family under Christ, living out the gospel for the glory of God and the good of our neighbors.
Non-Denominational - Gospel-Centered - Modern with Ancient Roots
A Compelling Vision
New City Church exists to fill this city with people made new by Jesus and sent in His name, that the gospel would spread through the Lowcountry and beyond.
A Timeless Mission
Enjoying Jesus and Making Disciples.
"I believe in God, the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth. I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit" — Apostles' Creed, c. 390 AD
We didn't invent this faith. We received it, from the apostles, through the centuries, into the Lowcountry. We hold it with conviction and pass it on with joy.
An Invitation
Hello!
If we haven’t met, my name is Drew Hensley. For the past 7 years I’ve been serving as the Pastor of Leadership Development & Discipleship at ONE Fellowship on Daniel Island. Before that I was a Seattle church planter. Over the years I’ve served as a pastor in Atlanta, the Upstate, Seattle, and now Charleston. When Laura, our son Silas, and I moved to Charleston, almost 7 years ago and joined the ONE Fellowship church family, we didn’t know exactly what to expect. What we have found is a gospel community we love and that has loved us back. As a resident of Mount Pleasant, I have a deep love for the Lowcountry and am proud to call it home as we continue to plant deep roots in this community.
It’s been one of my greatest honors to pastor at ONE and point people back to Jesus week after week. This past year, I have carried a growing conviction that God is calling us to plant a church in North Mount Pleasant. It has been tested, prayed over, and confirmed by the leadership of ONE Fellowship. And now, with full blessing and partnership from ONE Fellowship and a shared vision for a Gospel Movement across the Lowcountry and beyond, it’s time to move forward!
What you are reading is an invitation. Not just to simply hear about a new church, but to prayerfully consider whether God might be calling you to help build one. Church planting is not a spectator event. It takes a committed group of people who are willing to pray, serve, give, and invite before it has all the things that make a church feel like a church. I believe the greatest investment you can make is in the gospel. As we press into that truth, I am confident Jesus is going to do something that is bigger than any one of us in this new church and beyond, for our good and His glory.
As you keep scrolling you’ll learn more about our team, why north Mount Pleasant, vision, mission, timeline, and more! Whether you are a part of the ONE Fellowship church family considering coming along as a founding member or simply live in the area, love Jesus, and want to learn more about joining this new work, we would love to connect!
For the city and for the gospel,
Pastor Drew Hensley
Look! God’s dwelling is with humanity, and He will live with them. They will be His people, and God Himself will be with them and be their God…I am making all things new.”
